Holding one position for a long time can feel uncomfortable around the neck and shoulders. There is no single perfect posture to maintain all day. Changing position and adjusting the workspace is more useful than pulling hard on a painful neck.
A repeatable break
Move away from the keyboard, stand and take a short walk. Then slowly raise and lower your shoulders and turn your head within a comfortable range. Do not press into the side of your neck or try to make it crack. Stop a movement that spreads pain or produces tingling.
Arrange the screen so you do not constantly bend your head down. A separate keyboard with a raised laptop may make this easier. Ask a physiotherapist to adapt exercises if symptoms keep returning.
Skin care is not neck treatment
Aloe MSM Gel can be compared as a cosmetic gel for intact skin. It does not correct posture or treat the cause of pain. New arm weakness, tingling, severe pain after injury or worsening symptoms require professional assessment.
Look at an actual work task: is the screen so low that you keep leaning, or do you hold a phone with your shoulder? Adjust that task and add a brief change of activity rather than seeking a perfectly motionless posture all day. Record movements that trigger pain. This is more useful to a physiotherapist or clinician than saying a gel realigned your neck.
